Huawei reveal new Nova smartphone range
Huawei have unveiled their new Nova range of phones at IFA, in Berlin.
The a new mid-tier line of handsets aim to offer solid specs for those on a budget. The line kicks off with two devices – the Nova and Nova Plus.
The two handsets are largely the same, though the Plus, as the name pretty clearly implies, is the larger of the two, at 5.5-inches to the Nova’s 5-inches.
The Plus also is kitted out with a larger battery at 3340mAh vs. an already solid 3020 — the latter of which, the company points out, will give you five hours of Pokemon Go usage (this seems to be important to both Honor and Huawei) — or 48 hours of regular use.
They do look pretty good from what I can make out. The rounded corners and a curved back will no doubt feel nice in the hand. Thanks to the 1.8mm bezels the front looks decent with a good screen to body ratio.
The Nova features an impressive 445ppi, and comes equipped with an Eye Protection mode that filters out blue light and auto adjusts brightness for night time viewing.
The cameras are a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front facer for the Plus. The other model being loaded with a 12MP main snapper.
Under the hood is a 2GHz octa-core processor. You get a dual-SIM slot and expandable storage too.
The handsets feature a USB-C port which is slowly becoming the standard. The fingerprint reader has been improved with added security, now up to five levels.
Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group, commented:
Our designers have created beautiful devices that meet the needs of our increasingly demanding lifestyles. nova and nova plus
deliver much more than customers might expect, but exactly what they deserve. These handsets will allow users to burn more brightly, to get the most out of each day and to enhance their lives with the best specifications and functionalities in the segment.”
