Next Google Nexus by Huawei confirmed

I have used the Huawei-made Nexus 6P practically every day since Google launched it last year. Now, word is that the company is lined up to make a Nexus Phone this year – and it’s official!

Yessireeee folks. It seems that Huawei did such a good job with the Google Nexus 6P that they have been invited back to work on a new device for the big G. Furthermore, Huawei have confirmed the fact as…. well… fact.

During the recent launch of some new Huawei smartphones in South Africa, Charlene Munilall, who is the general manager of the company’s business in South Africa confirmed that they are making another device for Google again this year.

The Nexus product is a very niche product… the techies love it but there’s a very small number of people that buy it. Hence Cellucity only brought 300… into the country…”

Said Munilall, adding

That said, the distributors, our open market, do bring in the device, that’s how Cellucity got it… and that will still be the same this year. We’re doing the Nexus again this year, by the way,” she explained.

Until now rumours have suggested that HTC will be making both new handsets, codenamed Marlin and Sailfish.

Naturally, there are no firm details as to what this year’s Huawei Nexus device will be but the last one certainly has been a popular smartphone for Google.

I for one cannot wait to see what Huawei have for us this year – what do you reckon? You know, there is a chance that Huawei might be making a tablet and not a phone for Google.
