SanDisk Nintendo Switch microSD cards
Western Digital, the parent company of SanDisk, has formed a global partnership with Nintendo to create licensed SanDisk Nintendo Switch microSDXC cards.
SanDisk is my usual go to company when I need SD or microSD cards. The memory specialist has just announced its partnership with Nintendo.
The new licensed microSDXC cards will be available in capacities of 64GB and 128GB.
This pair of SanDisk Nintendo Switch microSD cards boast speeds of up to 100MB/S. This means that you should enjoy speedy loading of your Switch games.
The specifications of these two licensed microSD cards are very similar to SanDisk’s existing Ultra series of MicroSD cards. The bonus here is that these models will come with official verification from Nintendo.
This will no doubt make it easier for those less familiar with what to look for when buying such things. I am presuming these will become choice stocking fillers over the Christmas period. It will certainly make it easier for parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents to recognise what to buy easily.
MicroSD cards will become very important for Nintendo moving forward. You see, the Switch ships with just 32GB of integrated memory. So, as Ninte’s library of Switch games increases, owners will soon start to feel the pinch.
Furthermore, a microSD card will be needed for certain Nintendo Switch games that contain an especially large amount of content and require additional storage for players to enjoy the full experience
The only way to go is more microSD cards if you want to have a selection of games to choose from.
Price and availability
The Nintendo-licensed 64 GB and 128 GB microSDXC SanDisk memory cards will be available at select retail outlets starting in October 2017.
