At Google’s I/O developer conference HTC has announced a new VR headset.

This is not a sequel to the popular Vive but a stand-alone VR device that requires no external hardware or docked devices to deliver an exciting VR experience.

This headset will be part of Google Daydream VR platform and come with an affordable price tag when compared to premium VR offerings.

Google partnership

Google has announced that it has partnered to develop two virtual reality headsets that will work as standalone devices.

That means they will not have to be plugged into a powerful gaming PC, console or smartphone.

Nor will they require that users mount or stand sensors in their rooms. Instead, the headsets will incorporate tech that allows them to trace their position as they move in 3D space.
