Gigabyte GTX 1080 Xtreme ‘meaty’ gaming graphics card

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming boxGigabyte has today unveiled a new flagship graphics card it has created in the form of the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming which is equipped with Gigabytes highest factory overclock for the GTX 1080 graphics processing unit (GPU).

The Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming has landed with a custom cooler, a beefy factory overclock and a cheaper price point than the Nvidia reference GTX 1080 Founders Edition. But now there’s also the Xtreme Gaming GPU.

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming offers gamers, video editors for that matter, or anyone else who needs extra performance and every bit of power possible from the new range of graphics cards.

This latest addition flagship card features a custom-design PCB with a strong VRM, and a “meaty new custom design cooling solution” so says Gigabyte.

You get Gigabyte’s new WindForce Stack 3X cooling system which maximises airflow to the heatsink. This consists of the middle fan being slightly more recessed than the two outer. The fans are off when the card is idling or if it’s under a set temperature threshold, allowing for 0dB operation for low-intensive workloads.

Display connectors include two HDMI 2.0b ports, one dual-link DVI-D, and three DisplayPort 1.4 ports. Power delivery is taken care of by two 8-pin PCIe power connectors.

This accessory allows you to connect your VR headset to the front of your enclosure, instead of having to reach behind to find the HDMI connectors located at the back of the card.
