AndaSeat Fnatic Edition Gaming Chair Announced

Professional seating specialists, AndaSeat, has announced its Fnatic edition gaming chair.

AndaSeat has manufactured race car seats for BMW & Mercedes Benz, as well as partnered prestigious brands in the sports and Esports field. Today it has revealed the Fnatic edition ergonomic gaming chair.

AndaSeat Fnatic Edition

Fnatic is the most successful Esport club of the last decade winning more than 200 championships across 30 different games, and their gamers will now all be using the AndaSeat chairs – and you can too!

Padded with 65Kg/M3 cold-cured and super high-density foam, the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition offers the all-important support for the spine during long gaming sessions. The dual cushions can be adjusted to support both the lumbar and cervical spine areas simultaneously, enabling you to settle back into the chair with ease. Additionally, the chair boasts a lockable synchronic-tilt mechanism and special Z-shape design, allowing you to recline up to an angle of 160 degrees and then locked when not in rocking mode.

AndaSeat Fnatic Edition

The backrest is entirely independent and adjustable, which also lessens the strain on the neck and back whilst the 4D PU covered customisable armrest allows for a wide variety in terms of width and height adjustment.

AndaSeat and Fnatic handily share the same brand colours of yellow and orange. The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition gaming chair displays the brand colour at the sides and the chair arms. However, the chair’s body is in professional and timelessly elegant black. The chair is made of luxury PVC leather with the soft touch of a top grain leather, designed and made with total comfort in mind. With the same materials as used in the racing car chairs previously built by AndaSeat, they offer smooth bonded, scratch and stain-resistant technology. Not only it is easy to clean, but also much more durable.

AndaSeat Fnatic Edition

Zhou Lin, CEO & Founder of AndaSeat, told GadgetyNews

AndaSeat is proud to bring our ergonomic technology to support Fnatic’s success in world championships and their vision through which young people communicate with the world’s leading and forward-thinking brands. The usage of the AndaSeat chairs by the Fnatic teams is an important step for our long-term partnership and our commitment to designing and producing top quality professional gaming chairs.

The AndaSeat Fnatic Edition ergonomic gaming chair is available from the AndaSeat website for £399.99.

We have been living with the BenQ ScreenBar e-reading lamp. Here is our review.

The BenQ ScreenBar is one of those things where you first look at it and think, “what’s the point?” That is until you use it. You see, if you have limited desk space but would still like a lamp to illuminate your keyboard, etc. this is where the ScreenBar plays its trump card.

BenQ ScreenBar lamp design

The ScreenBar measures 18-inches wide. As soon as you lift it from the packaging, the lamp feels like another quality BenQ lighting item as it’s solidly constructed from aluminium. The metal tube is about 3/4-inch in diameter and is fitted with a row of LEDs.

Fitting it to your monitor is done by way of a clever, and deceptively heavy, counter-weight mount. The entire tube rotates a little enabling you to get the right angle. Additionally, you can further adjust it by moving the mount on the monitor a bit.

benq wit screen bar monitor top

Along the top of the aluminium bar are four touch controls. The buttons are for power, an auto-brightness feature, brightness controls, and colour temperature controls. Brightness varies between a bright max output of 320 lumens and a low light output that works well at night.

The lamp is powered entirely by USB and BenQ bundles in a 60-inch long cable for this.

Lighting was fairly even and easy to adjust from shining on the screen.

BenQ ScreenBar lamp performance

We have had the ScreenBar sat atop an old Phillips and a new BenQ monitor (23-inch and 27-inch respectively), and there were no issues as far as fitment went. However, my other half regularly uses a webcam for family Skypes, and the ScreenBar meant that the cam had to be repositioned. A minor niggle but perhaps something to consider. The plus side is that there is minimal overhang from the lamp’s stand so if your monitor has an integral webcam, chances are this won’t interfere with it.

Bright idea

The light output is quite directional, thankfully. My main concern was that the lamp would create glare on the screen – not something anyone needs. However, I should have realised that a company such as BenQ who actually make monitors with eye-friendly tech would have this covered. The band of light can be aimed to stay off of the screen and just light up your desk and keyboard. Furthermore, the light quality is exceptionally even and doesn’t appear to have any hot spots.

The lamp illuminates the area of my keyboard and mouse perfectly. No need for a long goose-necked lamp clamped to the edge of my desk here.

Flicker-free and temp control

benq wit screen bar back

Another area where BenQ have seemingly worked their eye-care, flicker-free magic is with the LEDs themselves. To my knowledge, most LEDs will strobe or pulse. I have taken both video and still shots of the lights and have not been able to decern either. Now, this is not to say that they are not strobing, but it leads me to assume that the rate at which they do so will not produce any ill effects to our eyesight.

The colour temperature can be varied between a very cold/ blue, 6500K and a reasonably warm 2700K. Just as the BenQ WIT desk lamp does, the ScreenBar has warm amber-tinted LEDs mounted next to standard blue/white LEDs. When set to its warmest 2700K, the colder LEDs are pretty much switched off, so you also get less light on the warmest setting. Naturally, for the settings between warm and cold mix the two LEDs for the temperature you want.

screenbar review back lamp

If you leave the adjustments to the auto-brightness, then the photosensor mounted directly on top of the bar takes control. I have had mixed results from allowing the sensor to do its job; however, this may be due to my monitors being directly in front of a window. With the blind shut then the sensor is pretty accurate with the amount of light it decides to dish out. Also, the automatic setting seems to ignore your colour warmth choices. Again, something to keep in mind.

Although, the ScreenBar does remember the settings from the last time you used it. So, as soon as you turn on your PC or monitor (depending on whose USB out you are using for power), the lamp will be how you left it.

BenQ ScreenBar lamp review conclusion

The BenQ ScreenBar has left me with one initial question – why the heck as this not been done before? Again, this lamp goes to prove that some of the most genius designs are the simplest and most overlooked.

This monitor-mounted lamp takes up no desk real estate, has adjustable brightness and warmth and even an automatic mode. Furthermore, it’s solidly built and, once set-up does not move unless you really want it to.

Aside from the premium price tag, we cannot find a downside to the BenQ ScreenBar lamp.

You can buy the BenQ ScreenBar right now for £90 from Amazon.

value lights wooden shelves floor lamp

value lights wooden shelves floor lamp whiteSometimes you have to make a decision. Do you buy a floor-standing lamp or some shelving. Why not do both?

There is a thin area next to my bookcase that is just large enough to either house a statement floor light or a skinny shelving unit. Perhaps just a box.

My requirement is really to have somewhere to sit the landline phone as it is generally left to balance on the edge of one of the shelves on the bookcase.

After looking through what Value Lights had to offer I think I’ve found the perfect solution.

Shelving floor lamp design

As the name has probably already given away, this unit consists of 3 open shelves which is topped off by a fabric-shaded lamp.

The wooden shelving floor lamp is available in three different finishes and I opted for the white one.

To me the unit has an Ikea/Bauhaus/Oriental look to it. This is probably down to its simplicity and clean lines.

Shelving floor lamp construction

As with most furniture these days, the lamp arrived as a flat-pack kit.

You get everything you need, except the tools to put it together.

value lights wooden shelves floor lampThe instructions are pretty basic. Just a series of pictures, really. If you are a seasoned flat-pack DIY-er you will know to lay things out first before getting stuck in.

This helped me as the lamp section uprights are of a different length to the other sections. This saved me from screwing differently sized posts in to a section.

value lights wooden shelves floor lamp sectionOther than that, all is pretty straightforward. Once you’ve built the frame it’s just a matter of adding a lightbulb and the polycotton shade.

Shelving floor lamp review conclusion

The quality of the paint finish is fairly good. There were a couple of areas where it is quite thin though.

light shelves sideOverall though the lamp unit looks pretty good to me. It has also given me somewhere to sit my landline phone instead of it balancing on the bookshelf.

Shelving floor lamp price and availability

You can buy the unit in black, white or oak coloured finishes now from Value Lights for £39.99.

lg oled lamp

lg oled lampLG was one of the first to release a smartphone packing a curved display and now it looks like the tech company is looking where else it can shove its bendy screens.

Over at the Light+Building show in Frankfurt, Germany, LG is showing off one of the ideas it has in utilising the curved OLEDS: a lamp.

Although OLEDs have already been used in lighting, LG says the lamp, which is inventively titled OLED Table Lamp, is the world’s first to use a curved OLED panel as a light source.

It’s the details that count, huh?

The sculpted red design can be controlled remotely by smartphone or tablet, which lets you automatically define lighting modes such as ‘movie’ or ‘relax’ and can also manually dim the light.

If it should come to market it would sit as the flagship product of a range of smart lighting including the Smart Lamp and Color Tunable Flat Light.

As it stands though, there’s no firm information from LG on whether the lamp will be available for purchase.

I for one would welcome something this cool-looking on my desk or in a reading nook.

aston martin office furnitureThose of us that work in offices will all agree that they are generally one of the least inspiring places to be. There are those few, however, that look like fantastic places to spend the 9-5. I’d feel rather inspired if I worked behind an Aston Martin desk!

Offices are either huge expanses of open-planned blandness or cubicle cordoned hells; Unless you happen to work for Google with its ‘coffee lab’ serving 19 different blends and four free restaurants – including a tapas and sushi bar.

True, the search engine giant’s London home may have a gym, sound-proofed music room with drums and guitars and a games room with a pool table, video consoles and a giant Samsung TV.

Employees may enjoy Google’s own version of the Big Brother garden complete with deck chairs, carpet that resembles grass and a rowing boat. But, to be perfectly honest, I’d much rather work somewhere that boasts office furniture from Aston Martin.

I dare you to tell me that the Vantage and DB9 are not truly beautiful examples of automotive craftsmanship – but how often can you stay in your car?

Before you start imagining yourself sleeping in a One-77 let me show you some of the car maker’s line of office furniture.

Yes, I’ve said it twice now. Aston Martin office furniture!

A range that includes the desk in the main picture which, to me, looks just as potent as a V12 Vantage.

The desk is made from a sheet of folded aluminium and sports a matching slanted drawer, it is all completed in a leather finish. Of course.

And the long graceful reach of the accompanying lamp illuminates the workspace without it being in the way and looks capable of slinking through a wind-tunnel without any problem at all.

Now you can see why Bond always caught the eye of M’s secretary, Miss Moneypenny. It wasn’t his looks, or is quick bon mots, it was the thought of taking down his minutes in OO7’s Aston Martin office.

I’ve always wanted beanbag furniture but have either never had the ‘right room’ or the money for such a thing.

It’s not much to ask to have something that I can pretty much just flop into when the day has gotten the better of me is it?

I’ve seen the oversized beanbag sofa’s in stores around Camden Market and, for what they were, seemed way over priced.

Whilst surfing the interwebs I found this natty group of comfiness and, although not gadgety, would suit a gadgety home for sure!

The Tie-1-On sectional pieces group by CB2 looks a total comf-fest!

Granted, apparently only available in red at the moment, but you can create proper grown-up seating arrangements out of the modular bag chairs.

You can even drag them outside (well, we have had some decent weather here in the UK) as they are made from water-resistant polyester.

You connect the sections using the black nylon straps on the corners and then create your ideal group.

Tie two chairs for a loveseat, three for a sofa. Tie on optional tie-1-on ottoman, and voilà, a stretch lounge…or how about an ottoman “table” tied between two chairs?

The latest in Milan (according to CB2) can be yours here in the UK – a chair (35″x37″28″) costs £129.70 and an Ottoman (25″35″12″) will hit you for £65.14.

Still a little out of reach for this hard-up musician but you people with proper jobs that live in actual houses will probably be able to afford this fashionable furniture 🙂

You want a new lamp but want to set the mood. Do you dim the lights or change the colour to fit the ambience? Perhaps you want to coordinate with what you’re wearing. It’s a shame we haven’t got the chameleon’s ability to match the surroundings. Well, Huey is a chameleon and he’s a lamp!

Before you start to petition against cruelty to chameleons I love the little colour-changing critters and Huey…. is a piece of furniture, some cute and clever furniture, but furniture all the same.

You cannot ignore a chameleon’s colour shifting ability and the same goes for Huey the Colour Copying Chameleon – and he’d look awesome on your desk!

Huey is illuminated by a bank of multi-coloured LEDS and powered by three AAAs or you can plug him into a socket. Thanks to an optical sensor this lizard lamp is able to ‘read’ the colour of the surface it’s on and adjust accordingly.

What else would go with your USB chameleon?

Huey the Colour Copying Chameleon Lamp is now on sale at ThinkGeek for $29.99 – I so want one!

If you happen to be in a room with a lamp ban (it could happen) how would you get some focused illumination?

Or – perhaps you’re such a furniture minimalist that having a desk-based light source is totally abhorrent to your ideals.

What if I told you that there is a stealthy way of bringing lamptastic joy to your room without upsetting your desk space or being too obvious?

This even has the added bonus of being a little surreal so you may score art points 😉

This lamp poster actually works as a lamp and is a limited edition number – only 50 pieces will be produced.

At $195 it’s not out of range for a lamp and you get a free poster – or an expensive poster with a free lamp……

Go here and buy now!

oki_okamura_robot_-chairWe all spend a lot of time at our computers – nuff said.

How many of us have a decent chair – one that doesn’t cripple your ass after 6 hours of Left 4 Dead?

This is a chair I want!!

The Oki Leopard Robot chair – how cool is that name?

The chair is now available in Japan and was developed by office equipment maker Oki and furniture company Okamura.

The cleverness behind the Leopard is to apply basic principles of human anatomy and musculature to its design (Oki’s own leg-shaped robot “Robot Leg” from 2005 was the original inspiration).

When you go to park your posterior the chair will sink 25° and feel as if you’re being comfortably cuddled from behind.

Shuffle forwards to get up ad the chair will raise the seat, enabling the person to stand up quicker and easier.

If you’re in Japan you get the choice of a leather version ($2,500) or a cloth-covered Leopard ($2,100).

The chair frame comes in black or white but there’s no spotted option!

Double that with wanting something to lounge around on in the garden or at a festival but in a better, classier way – then head over to Blofield.

No! Not, the Bond baddie – that was Ernst Stavro Blofeld!

Blofield has an incredible inflatable Chesterfield Armchair that’s been created by Jeroen Van de Kant.

This is sure to give your garden a makeover and any festival gathering sure-fire glam.

It’s so portable that you can take this blow up couch away camping or just down the park but you do need an electricity supply for the pump to save you seeing stars and hyperventilating 😉

The sofa can be deflated in 5 minutes when it rains or you get moved on.

As mentioned before – this inflatable class can be used at home and used as emergency seating 🙂
