LG G6 officially big and bezel-less

lg g6 invitationLG’s official invite for the unveiling of its LG G6 flagship phone shows that bezels are so yesterday.

LG has sent out invitations to the media for its event to be held on February 26th.

The electronics giant has practically made known that the G6 will sport 5.7-inch display with a 2880 x 1440 resolution (better than Quad HD) and a 18:9 screen ratio called Full Vision. Word is that it will pack 564 pixels per inch.

Rumors have suggested that the new G6 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. They also say that the device will come with 4GB of RAM. This is all yet to be confirmed.

What we do know is that the LG G6 will feature dual cameras on the back with an LED flash in between them. Under this there will be a fingerprint sensor and the device is expected to come with Android Nougat.

Clues in the invite

Using tag lines such as “Big screen that fits” point to the phone’s large screen on a device small enough to fit into your hand. The only real way of achieving that is to cut away the extra bulk.

The dotted lines across the centre? Perhaps a 50/50 split screen mode.

It certainly looks like LG will kick off the bezel-less phone craze for 2017.

Expect Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge to follow suit. Don’t forget though, Xiaomi got the jump on everyone last year thanks to the bezel-less Mi Mix.

It’ll be interesting to see how LG and others can tackle some of the Mi Mix’s thornier issues.

LG’s event takes place at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
