Google Pixel 2 gets papped

Google Pixel 2 backThe Note 8 and iPhone 7S yesterday and now the Google Pixel 2. Anyone would think that these leaks were being lined up on purpose in the battle for column inches.

As is usual in these cases, we have two anonymously-sourced pictures that purport to show Google’s Pixel 2 smartphone.

These are cobbled by HTC and what we can see matches with the leaked specs thus far.

You can see a pair of devices from the front.

Pixel 2 – what the photos say

These appear to be sporting the usual Nexus/HTC front-firing stereo speakers placed top and bottom. Handy as this is said to be lacking a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The display looks to retain a 16:9 aspect ratio. Could that be a third device in a different colour lying just to the left of frame? It could be, but is it a Google phone?

Google Pixel 2I am guessing that the white-framed device right behind the would-be hand model is another colour option for the Pixel 2 – perhaps the Pixel XL.

I am digging the phone bondage look of all that electric tape. However, this is more than a style statement, of course. It is there to cover any other detals that could give us more clues.

Google Pixel 2 backWhat we can tell is that most of the rear from the bottom to the three-quarters line is black matte metal.

Also, a fingerprint sensor is placed just below the matte borderline.

The abrupt cut to glass gives the top end a sheen with a very visible glint on the top left corner.

The report states that there are two tiny pinholes below the LED flash module. These will allow for a microphone and a focus-assist laser unit.

Just in case you missed it, there’s also a rather large camera lens.

These snaps can now be bundled with the other details we already know.

Rumoured specs

Firstly, we have already said that both standard Pixel 2 and XL versions are said to be loaded with the Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM.

Secondly, screen sizes. The regular-sized handset will feature a 4.97-inch 1080p display and the XL gets a 5.99-inch 1440p panel.

Furthermore, it’s also been rumored to have an always-on display and a squeezable frame, just like the HTC U11.
