iPad 2 Could be Lighter Thanks to Carbon Fibre Body [Carbon Fiber]

What’s sexier than an aluminium uni-body design?

How about carbon fibre?

Well it appears that Apple is looking to refresh the iPad from the looks of this latest patent to surface.

Obviously, a carbon fibre shell will reduce the weight of the tablet and it may also avoid any pesky reception issues – you know, like the iPhone 4.

According to the US Patent and Trademark Office, the patent says the shell will be constructed from “layered fiber-in-matrix type material”.

Other whispers in iPad land is that it may feature an in-built SIM and could be out in time for this coming Christmas.

I think that all of the above is possible at some point but with only 33 sleeps til Crimbo….. not sure about that release date.
