D-Link announce DSP-W115 Alexa and Google smart plug

DSP-W115 angleD-Link today has unveiled its DSP-W115 Smart Plug. This, along with the new mydlink app, enables home automation functions through integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

D-Link’s new DSP-W115 Smart Plug enables effortless integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This means that you get the added convenience of hands-free voice control of home appliances. Furthermore, you also get IFTTT integration and automation with compatible mydlink cameras.

DSP-W115 Smart Plug

DSP-W115The new D-Link DSP-W115 Smart Plug links up with Alexa and Google  smart speakers. This presents you with hands-free voice control over whatever appliance is plugged in to it.

Additionally, that automation can be linked to compatible cameras. This means that, should a camera detect movement, it could also trigger a lamp to switch on via the DSP-W115.

DSP-W115Naturally, the smart plug  can be controlled via an app installed on a mobile device. Through the app you can schedule when the attached appliance, be that a lamp, coffee machine or kettle, is switched on and off.

The plug hooks up to your home Wi-Fi network without the need of a separate hub. You will also receive notifications when the plug switches on and off.

mydlink app

With its updated user interface, the mydlink app is now easier to use than ever.

Shortcuts on the main screen allow users to access devices quickly and conveniently. Also, you can enable or disable multiple devices, alerts and automations with just one tap.

Not only does the mydlink app provide detailed statistical information about how much power each appliance is using, but it also sends customised notifications to a user’s mobile device. You can be told when it switches a device on or off, when a pre-set power consumption limit is exceeded, or if a device has been automatically deactivated due to overheating. All mightily handy stuff.

Words

Commenting on the launch, Paul Routledge, D-Link UK and Ireland Country Manager said,

Over the past year we’ve seen consumers grow more comfortable with utilising smart home devices via Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and we anticipate seeing this accelerate throughout 2018. The new mydlink app opens up access to these services, ensuring that our customers can make full use of their capabilities, while remaining in control of their mydlink devices, through one simple interface.”
