Devialet deals on New Phantom speakers

phantomI happened to catch a Tweet from Gallic audio adventurers Devialet that mentioned a new version of their wireless Phantom. So, off I went to investigate.

The original Phantom was an impressive device but this new iteration goes even further.

New Phantom

The new speaker’s power has been boosted to 1200 watts, which is a marked increase from the original’s 750 watts. As for sound enhancements, the volume range has been nudged from 99dB to 101dB.

More power for less

phantomAdditionally, it features the French manufacturer’s new-generation ADH2 technology and, priced £1290. Finally, and perhaps best of all, they have managed to make the new version a whole £100 cheaper than the original.

The new Phantom sits below the 3000W Silver (£1690) and 4500W Gold (£2190) in Devialet’s range.

The upped power output comes via an Elevate software update, which owners of the original speaker can also receive. However, they won’t be able to benefit from the improved ADH2 technology, which is hardware-related.

phantomAs before, the Phantom plays nice with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and supports streaming personal files from iOS, Android, PC, and Mac with Devialet’s Spark app. You can also expand its connectivity by pairing up with Devialet’s Dialog accessory, which acts as a centralised hub for any connected Phantom speakers. That way you can also add Apple AirPlay and the ability to stream directly from services such as Spotify, Tidal, and Deezer.

Price and availability

If you’d like your speakers perched atop a tripod, or Treepod as Devialet calls it, you can make use of the company’s ‘limited offer’ which bundles a speaker and a three-legged stand together for £1390.
