Bang and Olufsen rolls out Edge speaker at IFA 2018

Bang & Olufsen rolls in with the Beosound Edge speaker.

Bang & Olufsen has collaborated with globally acclaimed designer Michael Anastassiades to create Beosound Edge. The latest edition to the company’s range is a typically quirky designer audio piece by the Danish luxury audio brand.

B&O Beosound Edge

The circular Beosound Edge allows for two placement options. On the floor as a centrepiece, or placed on the wall to create a true gravity-defying statement.

B&O Edge exploded

The speaker is loaded with proximity sensors so, when you get close to it, it discreetly illuminates the touch interface. Furthermore, do not expect basic volume controls here. Adjusting the sound involves you gently rolling the Beosound Edge forwards and backwards to increase and decrease the volume.

Softly to change the volume moderately, while a stronger touch will change it more dramatically. Let go, and it gently rolls back to its original position.

However, it’s not just gimmiks that sets the Edge apart. The new Beosound speaker is surprisingly powerful despite its compact footprint.

To deliver impressive bass capabilities, the Bang & Olufsen acoustic engineers have packed in a 10-inch woofer bass driver on one side, partnered with a dedicated 4-inch midrange and a 3?4-inch tweeter on both sides.

Beosound Edge comes with AirPlay 2, Chromecast2 and Bluetooth and it supports voice interaction when paired with either a Google Assistant-enabled speaker, such as Beosound 1 and Beosound 2, or an Amazon Echo device.

Pricing and availability

Beosound Edge (RRP 3,250 EUR) is available online and in Bang & Olufsen stores from mid-November 2018.
