Euro-centric Pronto Peel iPhone smart remote announced
You might already be aware of the team made up of smart remote app maker, Peel, and the Pronto device from Philips which, when combined, form an awesome universal remote. But, now they’re bringing out a special Euro edition.
Pronto came to change the home control experience as it allows you to control your entertainment devices, TVs, Cable and Satellite boxes, DVDs, Blu-ray players, and connected home appliances all from your iPhone. And now Europe can enjoy the same experience because Pronto with Peel has been optimised, including local TV listings, for 30 European countries
In order to turn your iPhone into a handy universal remote control, the Pronto Peel uses your phone’s Bluetooth signals and translates them into infrared signals that are needed by your various devices that are controlled with their remotes.
As the latest device in connected home entertainment, the Peel will help you clean up a messy coffee table that’s littered with remote controls so that you can easily consume entertainment conveniently with your smartphone. It also has an integrated 360-degree IR blaster and will be shipped with an additional IR cable so that it can each a device that’s not in sight.
After you pair your iPhone to Pronto, you can use the Peel app to check your local TV listings without even turning on your TV.
The app will show you what’s airing in real-time, what you can watch later and even the popular shows people are buzzing about on Twitter. Set favourite channels, genres and shows to create your own personalised TV guide.
If you don’t like anything airing currently, set a reminder for your favourite upcoming show and instead watch a movie on Blu-ray. No need to locate another remote to make this happen. Simply tap the universal remote icon in the top right corner of the app screen, select Blu-ray and hit play to switch up your viewing experience. Pronto with Peel is optimised to control more than 3,000 entertainment devices, including all major TV brands such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips, Vizio, Panasonic and Toshiba.

Pronto for Europe will be announced at this year’s 2015 Mobile World Congress and will be available for purchase next month for 50 Euros, so that’s about £35.
