Cuvva phone app dishes out short term UK car insurance

You know those moments when you need to drive a friend or family member’s car but couldn’t because you weren’t covered? Ever needed to put someone on your car insurance and found it a huge drag? Going somewhere at short notice and can’t sort out car insurance in time? Well no more thanks to UK start-up Cuvva.

Cuvva launched last month and is the UK’s first ever short term car insurance app that allows you to get fully covered for any car in the UK for a little as an hour.

The app reduces the time consuming process of securing temporary insurance to a simple three step process. All you need to do is download app, get verified and enter the registration number of the car you’re borrowing. Then just choose how many hours you want to be insured for and away you go; it really is that straight forward

Founder of Cuvva, Freddy Macnamara, says

The reason we launched Cuvva was to try and improve the current UK car insurance model. Consumer expectations are that we should be able to get what we want, when we want and all from our personal devices; why should car insurance be any different. Technology has been used to consistently improve most industries yet the car insurance model remains largely unchanged. What we want to do is enable UK Drivers to get simple, quick, and efficient access to other cars whenever they need them.”

The Cuvva app is available for iPhones operating iOS 8.1 and above and, once registered; UK drivers aged between 21 and 65 years old can get fully covered for between one hour and twenty four hours, providing they have a valid driving licence.

Cuvva is fully regulated by the FCA and works with a number of underwriters to offer the best possible hourly rates to UK drivers.
