Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Fibre Ultrabook

Ever since I found out that Apple had employed a carbon fibre engineer I’ve been waiting for either a MacBook or iPad made out of the hi-tech material. Well, Lenovo has beaten the Mac to it with their ThinkPad X1 Ultrabook.

The Sony Vaio Z did it first but Lenovo’s new X1 comes in a ridiculously light carbon fibre chassis and only weighs a hair more than the Sony at 1.36kg and measures a slim 21.3mm in thick thinness.

On the spec sheet the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors and 3G connectivity appear to be both present and correct.

Sling on a 14-inch 1600 x 900 LED display, spill-resistant keyboard and Lenovo’s “RapidCharge” technology which allows you to charge the battery up to 80 percent charge in 30 minutes and it certainly is sounding good.

The rest of the details are still a bit scarce, although the release date is set for this summer.

When it comes out I’m going to have to test it whilst listening to a carbon fibre guitar through some carbon fibre headphones sat on a carbon fibre toilet seat.
