Boxee Box Landed in UK! I Want Hands-on!

I’ve been waiting a while for the Boxee Box to hit these shores – I’ve been waiting even longer to get a hands-on test 😉

The groovy looking media streamer is finally out today and shipping to 33 countries including the UK! Hoorah!

Why have I been enthusing over The Boxee Box?

Well, apart from the clear and intuative user interface and that it will happily play 1080p videos at 60fps and work with 5.1 and 7.1 audio check out the list of supported formats. Deep breath:

MKV, SSA, PGS, AC3, VC1, TS, H264, FLV, ASS, AVI, OGG, ISO, M2TS, VOB, SRT, AAC, FLAC. Impressive huh?

It’s also got social smarts – it’ll link up to your Twitter and Facebook accounts and spurt what your friends have been watching to your feed. No more channel surfing here!

There’s also support for HTML5 apps and Netflix in the states.

Apart from the initial lack of UK-centric content I fail to see anything wrong with it?  Even with a £199 price tag.
