Acer Iconia A510 Olympic Edition – will it Torch the Competion?

Olympic Acer Iconia Tab A510Team Acer is hoping to have a gold medalist in the shape of its special edition Acer Iconia A510.

Where the Samsung Galaxy S III has found its placing as the official Olympic phone, the quad-core endowed and Olympic themed Iconia A510 is looking to get ahead in the tablet race.

The A510 sports an Olympic logo and lets you watch the games on the go thanks to a free trial of the sports-streaming app: Eurosport Player. This will squirt free coverage of the games to your Ice Cream Sandwich-powered tablet until 13 August. So, you may want to get a subscription for the Paralympics 😉

The silver or black (What? No gold or bronze?) A510 is capable of bursts of power from the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor running at 1.3GHz but it can also go long-distance with a claimed personal best of 15 hours on one charge.

The keen eye of a 5-megapixel snapper with auto focus can also capture 1080p Full HD video. That can also pass the baton to the 720p camera on the front to relay hi-def video calls.

The screen handles high-definition movies and TV too, with Dolby Mobile 3+ 5.1-channel supplying the sound ‘track’.

Anyone who orders the A510 this month will be entered into a draw to win an Acer K330 Projector, worth £480. Bonus!

A free S III will be gifted to every athlete to pay for things by touching the phone to special NFC tills in shops across the Olympic site.

The Acer Olympic Iconia 4510 is on sale now at Carphone Warehouse for £349 – that’s £50 less than the cheapest iPad or the price of a Category C ticket for the Beach Volleyball… apparently…
