Tascam Trackpack 2×2 home studio unboxing
The Tascam Trackpack 2×2 landed on my desk last week and, instead of diving straight in to review it, I thought that it deserved an unboxing video first.
Yeah, I know it’s been a while since I shoved my face on video and I also know that some would say that’s no bad thing. But, when the Tascam Trackpack arrived, there was so much in the box that I thought I would share unpacking everything with you.
The new Tascam Trackpack 2×2 recording bundle contains Tascam’s US-2×2 USB audio interface, TM-80 studio condenser microphone with shockmount, and TH-02 headphones, as well as Cakewalk SONAR X3 LE and Ableton Live Lite 9 DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software.
The US-2×2 is a 2-in/2-out USB interface and is bus powered from your Mac or Windows computer.
Under the hood there is a pair of Ultra-HDDA mic preamps and NE5532 op amps. Thanks to its class-compliant drivers, you can even use the 2×2 with tablets such as the iPad – you will need an optional power supply for the interface though as the iPad won’t have enough grunt.
Also included in the Trackpack box is the TM-80, a condenser microphone ideal for vocals, drums, and acoustic instruments. The TM-80 cardioid mic has a 20 – 20,000 Hz frequency response and comes with a shockmount and desktop stand.
The TH-02 closed-back headphones provide isolation while recording and promise to be a great reference during mixdown. The cups are well articulated so, if you wanted to, can be worn like a DJ headset.
Check out the unboxing video below and stay tuned for a full review. Yes, it has been pointed out that my “hello” on the video sounds like the Dragon from Chorlton and the Wheelies!
