Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Collaborate For Luxury Audio Visual Line

Parisian maker of fashionable leather goods, Berluti, and Danish luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen have collaborated for a limited-edition collection of products.

Perfect for urban travellers and digital nomads, Beosound A1 2nd Gen Berluti Edition, Beoplay H95 Berluti Edition, and Berluti’s Sound Pouch are ideal for carrying on the go.

Rounding off the collection are a trio of decidedly non-portable special editions in the form of the Beosound Balance Berluti Edition, Beovision Harmony and Beolab 90.

Beosound A1 2nd Gen Berluti Edition

Bang & Olufsen’s second-gen portable Bluetooth speaker is waterproof, dustproof and boasts up to 18 hours of battery play time.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen A1

The 360-degree omnidirectional speaker sports a three-microphone array and Alexa baked-in.

The minimalist design in Grey Mist features a large Berluti logo on top of the speaker, while a Berluti calf leather cord in shiny dark brown tones aids the A1’s portability. There is also an aluminium tag with the Bang & Olufsen logo laser engraved on one side and the Berluti logo on the other. The aluminium tag is completed with a mirror-polished finish, drawing inspiration from Berluti’s ready to wear accessory trimmings.

Beoplay H95 Berluti Edition

First launched in 2020, the H95 are arguably the Danish brand’s finest wireless headphones. Upgrading these comfortable noise-cancelling headphones is a headband featuring Berluti’s trademark Venezia leather with a TDM Intenso patina and the Maison’s embossed logo.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen H95

The dark brown soft lambskin ear cushions match the Berluti Venezia leather headband, creating a cohesive expression. The aluminium discs have been engraved with the Berluti logo on the left-hand side and the Bang & Olufsen logo on the right. The headphones are housed in a black aluminium case where you’ll find more laser engraved logos.

Berluti Sound Pouch

Berluti has created a dedicated pouch that can comfortably cosset either the Beosound A1 speaker or the Beoplay H95 headphones.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Sound Pouch

Made with Berluti’s Signature Canvas – a motif blending Berluti’s new logo and the undulating strokes of the iconic Scritto – and featuring a patinated Venezia leather tag, it is ideal for safe carrying.

Beosound Balance Berluti Edition

Bang & Olufsen’s home object-inspired speaker features a hidden touch interface that lights up when approached and comes with Google Assistant and supports Apple Airplay2, Spotify Connect and Google Chromecast.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Balance

Seven carefully placed speaker drivers with beam-forming technology hands you the option of powerful and room-filling sound for everyday listening and sound directivity for precise and immersive music experiences.

Patinated by hand, Berluti’s Venezia leather is wrapped around the wooden base of Balance, creating a distinct finish and manufactured with Berluti’s artisanal know-how. The fabric has a dark knit with a touch of brown to match the leather base, which has been embossed with both logos and includes fine stitching around the base’s edge to create a touch of elegance. The top plate and grill come in natural aluminium for a high contrast and exclusive highlight to the darker materials.

Beolab 90 Berluti Edition

Featuring 8,200 watts of musical power, Beolab 90 adapts to its surroundings and your preferred listening modes to create an unprecedented level of musical power and precision, says the Danish audio brand.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90

The base of the aluminium speaker is customised with Berluti’s Venezia leather – with a TDM Intenso patina to create a bold design statement and, funnily enough, is the perfect match for Beovision Harmony Berluti Edition.

Beovision Harmony Berluti Edition

Originally unveiled at Milan Design Week in 2019, the 77-inch TV folds down into a sculptural shape with the panels partially covering the screen. When you want to watch something, these wings fan out and elevate the screen above them to perfect viewing height.

Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Beovision Harmony

Featuring an LG 4k resolution OLED screen and motorised floor stand, infused in Berluti’s DNA through exceptionally fine, perforated and patinated Venezia leather covering the speaker panels, it offers a unique interactive experience, we are reliably informed.

A Berluti representative told GadgetyNews:

Berluti and Bang & Olufsen are a perfect match, bringing together a common passion for excellence. Bang & Olufsen’s cutting-edge philosophy, technological innovation and state-of-the-art design run parallel to the Maison’s focus on craftsmanship and its continually evolving lifestyle collection.

Christoffer Poulsen, SVP of Product Management & Brand Partnering at Bang & Olufsen, added:

For nearly a century, Bang & Olufsen has been pushing the boundaries of audio technology, and the company continues to sit at the forefront of acoustic innovation. Together with Berluti, we are bringing the best of artisanship to the fore with our expertise in sound and design and Berluti’s knowledge in leather craftsmanship to create a truly remarkable collection.

The Berluti edition Beoplay H95 (£1,100), Beosound A1 (£320), Beosound Balance (£3,200) and Sound Pouch (£450) will be available in limited quantities from May 28th 2021 at Bang & Olufsen at Harrods, Berluti at Harrods, Berluti Conduit Street and Mr Porter, as well as online at www.bang-olufsen.com. The made-to-order Beovision Harmony (£32,800) and Beolab 90 (£97,000) will be available to order from May 28th and showcased in select Berluti and Bang & Olufsen stores.

Having clothing that can take all your gadge is one thing, making it look more

GadgetyNews - Low Jargon: High Tech

Tekkima Prevail 3-in-1 tech jacketHaving clothing that can take all your gadge is one thing, making it look more chic than geek, however, is another thing. Tekkima wants to show the world how it is done with their latest 3-in-1 jackets: The Mobilizer and The Prevail.

I get around quite a bit in order to attend device launches and shows. Most of the time I am laden with the tech I need in order to document these visits, also for my entertainment between them. This generally requires me to at least be equipped with a rucksack. Other times, a suitcase with a lightweight rucksack, I use this one by Leaper, if I am away overnight or longer.

I have seen many such jackets, the ScottEvest, for example, that are able to store your kit. However, few have managed to retain the urban cool style people are looking for.

Thankfully, US brand, Tekkima, has launched the Mobilizer and Prevail proving functional clothing can look equally good in urban or country settings.

Tekkima Mobilizer

Tekkima MobilizerThe Mobilzer has timeless and versatile design as well as a very modern cut. Furthermore, it also comes with a range of practical features.

The high-performance waterproof softshell fabric is lightweight as well as giving. This enables it to keep you dry as well as mobile.

Tekkima MobilizerInside, a fleece liner adds a layer of comfort as well as keeping you toasty and warm.

Other features include a convenient two-way zipper and an adjustable hood as well as an exterior chest pocket.

[youtube id=”Jo8SbJKFhWg”]

The two interior pouch pockets will take phones, tablets and other essentials. There is also a pair of zippered hand-warmer pockets.

The Mobilizer is the ideal wear-anywhere jacket for the upcoming early spring weather. It bridges the gap between bulky outerwear items and insulated jackets. At the same time, it looks fantastic in the city, at the office, or literally in the middle of nowhere. All that while also providing reliable protection against the cold and the rain.

Tekkima Prevail 3-in-1 Jacket

Tekkima Prevail 3-in-1 tech jacketThe Prevail 3-in-1 jacket has an insulated, waterproof shell with four external pockets.

You also get two stealthily slashed internal pockets that can hold your tablet and other mobile devices.

Tekkima Prevail 3-in-1 vestThe Prevail’s extra super-power is that the shell zips off to reveal a detachable fleece vest that can be worn alone when the weather eventually gets warmer.

[youtube id=”k1pi2cfUMnY”]

That vest also features a further 3 external and 2 internal pockets.

Tekkima Prevail 3-in-1 jacketThe Prevail will look great in a city environment partnered with business clothes making commuting with your gadgets a cinch. Come the weekend, dressed down with jeans and a t-shirt for smart causal.

Personally, I really do like its refined, classically simplistic styling.

GadgetyNews - Low Jargon: High Tech

TiBag laptop bag reviewWhen I was asked to review a teabag, I was a tad confused. This is a gadget site, after all. Then I realised, this is TiBag, a satchel-sized laptop bag. It all became clear.

The TiBag is a shoulder bag made of durable Polyester. Even though it isn’t as large as some laptop bags we’ve reviewed here at GadgetyNews, it still manages to pack storage space aplenty.

I’ve lived with the bag for a number of weeks using it to lug my kit to work and press events.

So, how has it worked out?

TiBag design

tibag tourThe TiBag is a vertically oriented shoulder bag. It is available in any colour you want, as long as it is black. However, there are teal highlights.

The bag measures a compact 11 x 15 x 5-inches and enclosed by a single, large flap.

TiBagThis flap features a large zippered pocket that can easily swallow magazines, tablets and the like. Pretty handy for those things you need easiest access to.

The only branding on the bag is the TiBag logo on the flap. This has prompted certain questions like “Does that make you a TiBagger then?” Ah, the humour is non-stop here.

Anyhow, the flap is held closed with a large strip of Velcro. This is very sturdy and Velcro-y. It does take some force to open it.

When opened, you’ll find a small zippered pocket with 3 pen slots next to it, also an open-topped pocket behind that. Working futher back is a larger zippered pocket and then an open-topped pocket.

Finally, there is the cavernous main compartment. So, quite a few pockets then.

TiBag performance

tibag loadedHaving multiple pockets means that you can stow away plenty of kit.

Even though the ‘smaller’ open pocket has been designed to protect your laptop, I have placed my 13-inch Yoga 2 Pro in the main compartment. This is just to give you an idea of just how spacious these areas are.

The actual laptop slot can take a computer that measures 14-inches wide by 10-inches tall, and 1-inch thick. Gamers rejoice!

The larger zipped area could easily take another, smaller laptop. However, this is only padded at the rear thanks to being neighbour to the laptop slot.

The little zipped pocket next to the pen organiser is handy for thumb drives, plectrums, or a card wallet as shown. The pen slots could to with being a little deeper, if I am to be critical. Well, that is my job here I suppose.

TiBag front pocketHere you see my NVIDIA Shield tablet in the large zippered front pocket. It is quite deep and easily take care of books and magazines.

The main open compartment is padded on the back, sides, and bottom, and is very roomy. There’s plenty more room than my 13-inch Yoga 2 Pro needs. If you do choose to use this compartment for your laptop instead of the TiBag’s built-in sleeve, you will probably want to put the laptop in another protective case. To be honest, I’ve been using it for folders, large note books and a small camera tripod.

I was amazed at just how much you can fill the TiBag with. If you intend to stuff it to the max, it will expand to become around 5-inches deep.

The only downside with this is, like courier-style laptop bags, all that weight will be sent to a single shoulder. The strap on the TiBag is strong and fitted with a non-slip shoulder pad.

It is comfortable to wear, just be aware of over-loading yourself.

The rear padded area is also comfortable to have against you. It is also somewhat breathable thanks to the mesh material.

I have confidence that the chunky zips, strong Velcro and D-ring/carabiner strap connectors will withstand heavy wear.

TiBag laptop bag review conclusion

There isn’t much to fault with the TiBag.

It’s made well, has a simple design and enough pockets to carry all your gear. I do like this orientation too, especially when commuting. Also, keeping with the commuting vibe, a top grab handle would’ve been a great addition.

Whilst I am being picky, some extra padding and, perhaps, some soft liner in the laptop slot would be awesome.

I really was expecting the TiBag to cost more than it does, it certainly seems to warrant it.

Price and availability

You can order the TiBag direct from their website for $34.95. It is also available on Amazon.com.

GadgetyNews - Low Jargon: High Tech

stm kings backpack desert brownSTM make awesome bags. I actually own two. So, when they asked if I wanted to take a look at one of their latest, I jumped at the chance.

I have been using an STM Drifter for the last 18 months and love the thing. When I need to look a little more professional I also own an STM Trust messenger bag. That one is coming up to being a year old soon.

Neither of the bags I have in regular use (the Drifter is used at least 5 days a week) look any worse for the wear.

What I like about STM bags are the many pockets, and the little details.

How does the Kings laptop backpack stack up?

STM Kings design

This laptop backpack has been designed to accommodate 15-inch laptops plus cables, a tablet and other stuff that you might need.

Being gadgety, we need to take lots of stuff. So, we need many pockets. The Kings does not disappoint.

Pockets aplenty

On the front, there are two pockets – one smaller pocket at the top and another pocket with the zipper facing off to the right.

stm kings backpack pocketsThis larger pocket can perhaps take a couple of shorthand pads or paperback books. There are also pen slots in there. You could even slip in a slender tracking device in to the smaller internal pocket.

After using the Kings for a few days I discovered a further two side pockets. These are angled towards the wearer. Handy for sunglasses and the like.

STM Kings Yoga 2 Pro and Shield tablet rechargingMoving onto the bigger pockets, STM really thought about your tech when it came to the Kings.

There are two pockets that will take tablets or notebooks.

The main pocket will be the home for your laptop.

This features the new SlingTech protection.

stm kings slingtechWhat this means is that, instead of your laptop resting against the bottom of the bag, it’s actually suspended. So, no more clunking your laptop down against the floor when you put your bag down.

But wait, there’s more!

STM Kings cable runIf you look at the inside of this main pocket, you may notice some orange cable clips that follow alongside the edges of that pocket.

Following this cabling path down to the bottom of the bag and you’ll find a smaller pocket nestled against the left side.

stm kings charge as you goThis pouch is designed to house your portable charger, making it easy for you to charge your mobile devices.

My recently acquired charger is a beast though so I made use of the “Stash” bag. If you have a more compact power bank, the Stash bag would happily look after cables and the like instead.

Oh, there are also little metal grommets that allow you to pass cables from your charger to the pocket where your devices will live. Yup, charging on the go without having to just bundle everything in the main section.

In all, there are 12 pockets!

Construction

The outer water-resistant polyester shell has a canvas-y feel to it. It feels purposeful, without being too utilitarian.

The Kings features “breathable Airmesh fabric” which helps to ensure that your back and shoulders won’t get sweaty.

stm kings backpack strapsAs you would expect, the arm straps are padded and don’t cause any issues from rubbing.

The main tech compartment benefits from extra padding on the corners, as well as having that clever SlingTech.

The curvy straps, including an adjustable sternum strap makes for comfy lugging.

STM Kings performance

The front main pocket is typically cavernous. Great for picking up some last minute groceries or for stowing your gym kit, if you are that way inclined.

The cable routing is a genius idea. I had my USB-C cable threaded to the front top outer pocket so I can charge one of my phones. The other output from my power bank was used for a microUSB-ended cable. This was threaded to the rear to supply juice to my Shield tablet. Neat.

stm kings charging KEYone and ShieldI really do like the suspended SlingTech of this backpack. Too many times have I misjudged how far away the floor is, or how heavy my bag is, only to crunch my Yoga 2 Pro to the deck.

STM really do put a lot of thought in to their designs. Although, one thing my Drifter can do that the Kings can’t, even though the Kings is technically bigger, is fit a 12-inch record (vinyl to you crazy kids) in its mailer box. Yeah, I tend to get records delivered to work instead of home since the time I came home to see one ‘posted’. By that I mean one corner of it was shoved in to the letter box leaving the other 90% of it hanging out in the elements.

The Drifter can take a record easily, but this is mainly due to it having just one large main compartment. The Kings has two.

Is the Kings perfect? Well, not quite. I am now used to having a little external pouch for a bottle and another for a brolly. Are these deal breakers? Hell no! The Kings more than makes up for those little niggles.

Comfort

I have had the Kings loaded with laptop, tablet, DSLR camera, action cam and gimbal, pens, cables, charger, notepad, jacket and brolly and happily walked for a couple of hours across town.

The straps are comfy and well adjustable. The Kings is also slightly curved which also helps with the comfort rating.

The side pockets will take a water bottle. I am guessing that the designers just didn’t want an unsightly plastic bottle outside their lovely bag.

STM Kings review conclusion

When/if my Drifter finally decides to retire I would gladly have a Kings.

It looks great, feels great and takes a great deal of stuff. Stuff That Matters (STM).

If only it could take an LP that’s in its card mailer, then it would be perfect.

STM Kings price and availability

The Kings pack comes in botanical green, china blue, tornado grey, and desert brown.

You can grab one now from Amazon for £99.

More details can be found on the STM website.

Mr Bubble results

UKI hair stardomWe like to mix things up here at GadgetyNews. So, as the party season is here, we have been sent a couple of hair styling gadgets from those lovely people at House of Centini – the UKI Mr Bubble and Hystrix.

Those who know me will be aware that I have long-ish hair.

Yes, my ‘fashion’ hasn’t moved on from when I discovered heavy metal in the 80s. I am comfortable with that.

I was prepared to try these out on myself but, fortunately, I had a willing volunteer. Who then didn’t want to be photographed.

Anyhow, here are the reviews.

Mr Bubble

uki mr bubbleStop sniggering at the back! Yes, this could raise eyebrows should you leave it on your bedside table. It’s name doesn’t really help either, does it?

But there is a good reason for Mr Bubble’s shape.

The idea is that the asymmetric design will give you a more natural looking curl.

A microchip controls the temperature of the professional-grade Tourmaline ceramic plate… Hang on. The what now?

Why Tourmaline?

I am not going to pretend to already known what this is. But, what I have found out is that Tourmaline is a rare mineral that naturally emits negative ions and infrared rays.

UKI has injected Tourmaline into the ceramic heating plates so that you can style your hair using less heat. Also, apparently, those negative ions actually trap moisture into the hair.

So, together, you are left with hair that is both styled and shiny.

Mr Bubble performance

The speed at which Mr Bubble heats up is remarkable.

Naturally, the heat settings can be controlled on the wand. It was good to see the obvious professional touches on this device.

mr bubble stylingMr Bubble resultsYou get a 3 meter cable that is fitted to the wand in a cuff that can rotate through 360 degrees.

By sectioning your hair and then wrapping it around the bubbles you are left with fairly loose curls. A quick brush-through gives you natural-looking waves.

The results are impressive and, thanks to the consistent heat, pretty quick to achieve.

Hystrix

uki-hystrix straightenerNow this one is a great two-for-one deal.

The UKI Hystrix is not only a hot brush for super-fast curling and volume, but it is also a straightening iron for smoother looks.

Where Mr Bubble was packing Tourmaline, Hystrix is rocking Argan Oil-infused ceramic plates.

Argan Oil

As the ceramic plates on the Hystrix heat up, they realise the Argan nutrient into the hair giving your style shine and protection.

I do hope I am not the only one learning stuff here!

Hystrix performance

To use as a brush you simply lock the two-halves off. This creates a hot barrel brush.

Anyone that has used a hot brush before will be familiar with the volumising effects.

Unlock the straighteners and you’ll see the heat controls, as well as the professional ceramic plates.

UKI HytrsixHystrix is coated with a smooth heat resistant material making it very safe to use.

The coated bristles are heat resistant too. This allows you to hold your hair around it with your hand for superb control.

Just like Mr Bubble, the Hystrix has a 360 degree professional swivel cord.

The Argan oil combined with adjustable temperature control 130º- 210º maintains hair health leaving it smooth and shiny.

Mr Bubble and Hystrix review conclusion

I have to say, even I could tell the difference when using these bits of tech compared to other high street brands.

The fit and finish is what I would class as professional. In fact, Max Centini uses the products in the salon. I have been promised a Brazilian Blow-out but still yet to take him up on that.

Both devices reached their working temperatures quickly and left hair just as desired.

If you’re serious about your style, you owe it to yourself (and your hair) to check these out.

Mr Bubble and Hystrix prices and availabilty

You can get these, as well as other UKI products from House of Centini right now!

Mr Bubble is £50

Hystrix is £93

eyejusters lenses

eyejusters adjustment dialMy parents, as many other people do, tend to pick up those ‘one-size-fits-all’ style reading glasses that you can generally find on stands in pharmacists. I watch them adjust their focus by bringing the newspaper or a book closer and then further away until its comfortable. Eyejusters, however, allows each person to adjust the lenses to how they need them.

As a long-time glasses wearer I practically take for granted the fact that I can go in to any high street and find an opticians, book an appointment and get my eyes tested and then buy some new spectacles. Even better is the fact that I can get vouchers to cover the price of the eye test and towards any new glasses if my prescription has changed.

In developing nations, many people aren’t afforded the opportunity to visit an optitician. Eyejusters originally set out to bring their brand of adjustable lenses to areas such as those and they continue their work in these parts of the world.

So, continuing my ‘unusual things that GadgetyNews gets to review‘ I have had these glasses, “aimed at the over 40s”  sent over. These Eyejusters can be bought in range of modern designs for those who now find themselves uttering the phrase “let me just put my readers on”.

Eyejusters design

At first glance these glasses look like any other set of specs.

The pair that I have been sent are in black coated stainless steel.

eyejusters packagingThese have been formed from a single sheet making them strong and lightweight. You can chose from stainless steel or combination frames that come with high quality finishes, acetate or stainless steel arms and comfortable nosepads.

eyejusters overheadThe clever bit is the adjustment wheels which are located discretely behind the frame.

Turning these screws allows the lenses to adjust independently of each other and so allows them to more closely match the individual wearer’s needs. Let’s face it, who has identical prescriptions for both eyes – I certainly don’t.

Eyejusters performance

In order to bring these glasses to the masses the company has developed an adjustable lens technology called SlideLens. This consists of a pair of lenses which act together to correct an individual’s eyesight.

eyejusters reviewThe lenses are adjustable from between +0.00 to +3.00 Dioptres which should cover most cases of mild longsightedness.

eyejusters lensesThe beauty of this is that no professionals are required in the process of distribution or fitting. You can pretty much do this by yourself through trial and error or a simple reading test.

Eyejusters conclusion

I found the reading glasses remarkably easy to adjust and the black frames are smart enough to wear out without drawing unwanted attention.

The SlideLens tech really does work and I can definitely say that the 5 years of research that the Oxford-based company has put in to Eyejusters has no doubt already changed many people’s lives.

There are estimated to be 670 million people around the world living without the glasses they need, with 95% of the people in sub-Saharan Africa who need them going without. This is due to there being an average of one optometrist per one million people in that part of the world, compared to one per 10,000 in the United States and Europe … which is a frankly shocking statistic.

Closer to home, I can see Eyejusters being a popular choice for those that may have just started noticing that reading is getting a little tricky but are not yet ready to get their eyes tested. Saying that though, you really should have your eyes examined regularly by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Eyejusters price and availability

Eyejusters are available now direct from their website with prices starting at just £69 with free shipping.
