Honor 10 update adds Party Mode

Honor has announced that the Honor 10 will receive a software update. The COL-L29 8.1.0.120 (C432) update adds the Party mode app, and optimises the fingerprint unlock experience and photography experience.

Funnily enough, my review handset updated overnight and the COL-L29 firmware was installed as I showered. In regards to my Honor 10 review, that will land very shortly.

Honor 10 update

The Honor 10 is a great phone. Without giving too much away before my review, but it really does possess premium smartphone features and hardware at a competitive price. This latest update irons out some niggles, as well optimising your user experience further.

Fingerprint unlock

I have been having a tiny issue with the fingerprint scanner. It generally works on the second tap. However, this looks to have been acknowledge. The fingerprint unlock experience has now been improved. You will probably get a notification to delete your current fingerprint. If not, you will at least get the chance to add a new scan.

Camera

Optimises prompts in Al lens. A text message is displayed to indicate the photo effect after a scenario is identified. The photographing effect of the front camera is improved for a more natural colour display.

Themes

Adds LaMer (living) theme and Greenlight live wallpaper, and updates Aurora theme materials.

HiCare

Relocates HiCare from the Tools folder to the home screen.

System

Enhances the overall power consumption for extended use.

Security

Integrates Google security patches released in May 2018 for improved system security.

Availability

The COL-L29 update is available now for Honor 10. If you are not prompted, head over to the Settings app and scroll down to System. Tap the second option, ‘System Update’, and it will check for the latest version for you.
