Qualcomm TOQ smartwatch trademarked

smartwatchWith big hitters such as Google, Apple, Sony, Microsoft and Samsung looking to develop smart watches it could well point to these being the next device battleground. To that end, it seems that there could well be a Qualcomm smartwatch in the works.

Qualcomm normally makes reference devices which manufacturers use to build their own devices, but could they be looking to dip their toe in to producing a consumer product?

According to a recent trademark filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Qualcomm may be working on a smart watch named TOQ – has TIQ already been taken, I wonder?

The Qualcomm TOQ is described in the patent filing as a “Personal communication hub in the form of a wristwatch; portable electronic devices for transmitting and reviewing text, data, image, and audio files; hands free devices for mobile phones; battery chargers.”

The filing was made with the USPTO on the 26th of June, unfortunately no other specifications have been mentioned as yet but you can guarantee that, judging by what they do with their reference devices, they will spec the TOQ out to the max and push the boundaries of what a wristwatch can do.

What would you expect to see from the Qualcomm TOQ?
