Philips OLED TVs win the double

Philips TV can rightly claim its place as the leader in OLED TV performance. These official bragging rights come with the news that two of the company’s latest 2018 OLED TV models have won prestigious EISA Awards. One for Best Buy OLED and the other winning the Home Theatre TV accolade.

EISA has given its official seal of approval to the Philips 55-inch OLED803 TV as Best Buy OLED TV 2018-2019. Additionally, the Philips 65-inch OLED903 TV – the first product offered as part of the exclusive partnership with Bowers & Wilkins – has won Home Theatre TV 2018-2019.

The overall quality of the OLED903 has received further official recognition with the win of a prestigious IF Design Award earlier this year.

Philips OLED TV improvements

Both new models share the same outstanding picture quality features. The 2018 OLED panels sport a new anti-reflective coating for even better black reproduction and a 1000 Nit peak light output – a 10% increase in light output compared to the 2017 models.

Furthermore, the new models also feature the 2nd Generation P5 Picture Perfect Processing Engine. With that you also get the new “Perfect Natural Reality” contrast enhancing technology. This patented intelligent algorithm design improves standard definition range (SDR) images to “the same quality” as HDR (High Definition Range) content.

As well as the picture quality, Philips has worked on the sound. The 803 features a hugely improved sound system. Moreover, for ‘True Sound’, the 903 uses Bowers & Wilkins’ expertise to offer a new reference standard sound system. Here you get four forward facing drivers in an enclosure covered by acoustically transparent Kvadrat cloth.

Both ranges also include the unique three-sided Ambilight technology. Also, there’s the Nougat Android TV operating system. Google Assistant built-in and Works with Amazon Alexa tech will become available after the TV sets receive software updates to Android O, in near future.

Praising the new 903, the EISA judges said:

Home Theatre enthusiasts demand a genuinely cinematic experience that marries immersive visuals with dynamic sounds, and Philips’ 65-inch OLED flagship delivers. Overall, the OLED903 offers class leading performance, topped off by Ambilight which gets the best from 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray and streamed sources”.

Adding comments on the new 803, the EISA judges said:

Philips combines the latest 2018 OLED panel with its revised P5 picture engine for truly stunning results with this 55-inch model, while still hitting a tempting price. This UHD OLED Android TV lets you experience Standard dynamic range content in near HDR quality through Philips’ latest innovation, Perfect Natural Reality.”

Both EISA awards will be officially presented to Philips TV during IFA, the world’s largest consumer electronics fair, held in Berlin as of August 30th, 2018. Naturally, we’ll be there.

Availability

The 903 will be officially launched at IFA in Berlin, on August 30th, and we’ll be there.

The 803 will be available to buy in August 2018, while the 903 will be available in October.
