Square payment comes to the UK
Square, the mobile payment company, has today announced that they are launching in the UK.
This clever tech can convert an independent business owner’s mobile in to a payment portal. A perfectly portable way for small businesses to take card payments.
The UK is the fifth country where Square is available. You can already get it in the US, Canada, Japan and Australia.
Time to Square up
Independent traders can use the app and hardware to take card payments and offers competitive and transparent rates. There are no monthly contracts or hidden fees, and the user gets next-day settlement on most transactions.
Apparently, the average UK adult now carries less than £25 in cash, and 70% of UK shoppers prefer to pay by card. However, it is estimated that half of the UK’s 5.4 million small businesses do not, or are unable to, take card payments.
It takes minutes to get set up. Once done, sellers can quickly and securely begin accepting payments from Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards.
The card reader pairs with the free Point of Sale software. This includes tools such as real-time sales data, invoicing and digital receipts, all in a single app.
Jack Dorsey, CEO of Square, said:
We founded Square to empower small businesses with tools to accept all forms of payment and to make a sale anytime, anywhere. We look forward to working alongside the millions of entrepreneurs and thriving small and medium-sized businesses across the UK, especially those who do not yet take card payments.”

The Square Reader will be available for £39 in the UK. Find out more over at the company’s website.
