HTC Nexus X tablet specs show Tegra K1 GPU on board

The new tablet from HTC has been squirted over the interwebs. Here’s a sneaky peek of the Nexus X tablet and it’s 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 cleverness.

The new Nexus X tablet, made by HTC, has leaked showing off the potency of its 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 innards.

The tablet has appeared on a CPU-Z report running the Tegra K1 Denver at 2.5GHz.

The thing about CPU-Z is that it can’t easily be fooled and is used as standard throughout the industry as well as with PC overclockers to show device information.

The K1 chip was previously rumoured to be planned to make an appearance on HTC’s Nexus tablet and the report shows that the 64-bit SoC (System on Chip) with a 192-core Kepler GPU is present. All that tech boils down to having pretty special gaming graphical grunt. Not only that, but it also manages to be 1.5 times more efficient than other mobile GPUs, according to Nvidia who’s SHIELD tablet sports the same processor.

The Nexus X screen is rumoured to be an 8.9-inch display that sports the same resolution as the Nexus 10 meaning 2560 x 1600 but on that smaller screen. That equates to an impressive 340ppi which should be plenty for high quality gaming.

It would appear this tablet will be aimed mostly at gamers as, not only are the graphics chip and screen geared up for it, it has been seen running Unreal Engine 4, DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.4. That means the chip is more powerful than anything Android can support right now. It may be a while before we see the tablet really pushing its 64-bit powertrain though.

When the HTC Nexus X is to be released isn’t clear, but with the IFA trade show next week and plenty of announcements due for September I’d expect it sooner rather than later.
